David is an experienced qualifed teacher and tutor, based in Teddington. He was a lawyer for many years until he saw the light and qualified as a teacher. He taught in primary education, mainly in key stage 2 (years 3 to 6), until recently taking very early retirement to concentrate on tutoring. David has an Enhanced Disclosure CRB certificate and can provide references if required.
David works with children of any ability, whether they simply want help with a subject they find hard, or because they need to be stretched. He is familiar with both state and private education and helps children prepare for transition to secondary school, including entrance exams and tests. He has taught in year 6, preparing children for SATs and secondary education. He also has wide practical experience of children with special educational needs such as dyslexia, autism and Asperger's syndrome and children who are gifted and talented.
The key to supporting a child is to improve his or her confidence. TLG does this by making work interesting and challenging. High expectations are essential - it is amazing how children respond!
